The Back Story
Although variations of Chess have been played by many cultures
throughout history, the origins of modern Chess are shrouded in
mystery. One widely held belief is that the variation we play today
originated in fifth and sixth century India. From there it traveled by
way of Persia and the Arab world along the Silk Road to the East, and
along Roman roads to Western Europe.
