The Back StoryMore: History doesn't tell us when the first snow person was constructed, but in his book, The History of the Snowman, Bob Eckstein notes that the earliest documented snow man was an illustration in a book dating to 1380. The world record for the largest snow person was set in 2008 in Bethel, Maine. The snow woman stood 122 feet 1 inch (37.21 m) in height, and was named in honor of Olympia Snowe, a U.S. Senator representing Maine.
