The Back StoryMore: This ornament celebrates the Icon of Our Lady, located in the Church of St. Nicholas, in Bochnia, Poland. The painting has been considered miraculous since the 17th century. Unexplained healings have been reported. In one instance, the picture is said to have covered itself with bloody tears. The painting was crowned by Bishop Franciszek Lisowski in 1933 and the church received the status of a basilica minor in 1998. The picture remains a pilgrimage Marian site.
