Sliders are small sandwiches,
usually served in multiples. Most people think of sliders as hamburgers, but
any type of sandwich filling (tuna
salad, egg salad, chicken salad, etc) can be used to make them. Sliders
were introduced in the 1940’s by the White Castle, a hamburger burger joint
famous along the east coast and in midwest. Their sliders were small, square hamburgers and were 5-cents each.
